He moved to D.C. in 2010, and attended George Washington University, where he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy. After working with many high level clients, including professional athletes from the NFL, MLB, and Olympics, during his clinical internships, he worked in an outpatient orthopedic setting with patients of all ages in Bethesda, MD. He furthered his education with the McKenzie Institute, and received his certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Cert. MDT) through McKenzie in 2016. He is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), and believes in fostering patient independence throughout the rehab process, empowering patients to take control of their symptoms and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
Josh Ripp, PT, DPT
Dr. Josh Ripp was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri before moving out to the Washington DC area in 2019. He attended St. Louis University for both undergraduate and graduate school where he was admitted into their accelerated physical therapy program, receiving his doctorate in just 6 years. Josh focuses on sports injuries, general orthopedics, and joint replacements. He has had the opportunity to treat patients of all ages including high school, college, and professional athletes. In January 2020, Josh joined the National Strength and Conditioning Association where he was able to obtain a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist degree. With this supplemental certification, Josh has learned how to optimally train athletes based on their sport and what part of the season they are currently. Josh emphasizes patient education and believes a patient performs best and enjoys physical therapy the most when they are fully aware of how and why their impairments may be causing pain or discomfort. Josh also believes in yearly screens for all individuals because the best way to treat an impairment is to catch it before it happens.
Dr. Angelo Abis, PT, DPT
Dr. Angelo Abis, originally from Central New Jersey, received his B.S. in Kinesiology from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 2018 before obtaining his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The George Washington University in 2022. While at Temple University, Angelo was a member of the sports medicine staff for the football team, where he had the distinct pleasure of working with Division I athletes at the highest collegiate level. Angelo also has had the opportunity to study human movement analysis abroad at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. While studying at the George Washington University, Angelo completed clinical rotations in a variety of settings including an orthopedic setting in Denver, Colorado, a pediatric setting in Annandale, VA, and was part of a Spinal Cord Rehabilitation team in Dallas, TX. Angelo is a firm believer in a strong education component within each patient’s plan of care and believes that patients are able to more efficiently navigate their plan of care when they are more aware of how their body works and interacts with movement.
